Why attack the typhoon?
I really love my phoon, partly because its a great ship that is radically different from the tempest but also because of what it looks like.
I would hate to see it go.
I do however agree that the mammoth does not look much like a hauler, the huge dronebay openings sugests it was originally designed to be a war ship (I have only rumors to back that statement up).
I say make a new mammoth design and add in the mammoth as one of the destroyer class ships.
That way we both get what we want :)

Lets get one thing straight:
Gaping holes are drone bays.
The phoons huge open front is the dronebay, the phoon has the largest dronebay of any minmatar ship and thus has the largest opening, simple.
The Mammoth has a whopping 3 gaping holes, 1 in front and 2 on the sides wich sugests it was originally designed to be a BS or atleast a combat ship.
Rumor has it that the mammoth was actually created to be a fighting ship but I would guess that its design made it hard to place in any one of the races fleets. Minmatar ships have a ... rustic look to them, the mammoth did not quite fit in there.
But as long as we are talking of replacing a BS with the mammoth, why not switch it with the dominix? Change the texture to more glossy and you have a perfect dominix :)

Lets attack this from another angle.
I have from the very start suported a secondary industrial type ship,
the mining ship.
Its size would be rivaling if not larger than the largest battleships, it would have a reasonable dronebay, a good cargohold, capacity for several mining lasers.
why not push for having the mammoth reclassified as such a ship?
